Art for Sale

I have chosen four of my favourite images to recreate as prints. Each of them is special to me and I am excited to be able to share them:

  • Follow the Yellow brick road… – from the Wizard of Oz.
  • The Witches and four others – from Northern lights by Philip Pullman.
  • The Hare and the Tortoise – from Aesops fables.
  • The Gingerbread House – from Hansel and Gretel.
  • Selection taken from “His Dark Materials” trilogy

The illustrations can be found by searching of “IllustrationsByJo” on the etsy.com website. Each giclée print is on A4 and printed on Epson velvet fine art paper (100% cotton rag and acid free) using Epson K3 Ultrachrome pigment inks.

Each is hand signed by Jo.

The Hare and the Tortoise

(Inspired by the tale from Aesop’s fables)

I really enjoyed designing this piece and it came together quickly. I especially like the symmetry of the image, the vibrant green of the grass and the simple, relaxed poses of the tortoise and the hare.

The Gingerbread House

(Inspired by the Brother’s Grimm tale of Hansel and Gretel)

This image took quite a while to create, layering watercolour, then pen on top, then repeating until I felt that the colours had reached a real depth and the pen gave detail and clarity.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

(Inspired by the Wizard of Oz tale by L. Frank Baum)

When I was starting on my Wizard of Oz project at university I spent time designing different sketches of the the main characters. This illustration shows them all coming together for the first time and showing off all their individual appearances

I enjoy working in black and white, and particularly using pen to create different marks and patterns. I really love the texture that the Lion’s mane has and the composition as a whole.

The Witches

(Inspired by the “His Dark Materials” trilogy of fantasy novels by Philip Pullman)

This is one of 6 images taken from the ‘His Dark Materials’ . Other images for sale are: Dust, The Roping, Iorek and Lyra, Lee and Serafina and La Torre.
